It's Birthday time!!!!

My Sweetheart is still my Sweetheart!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LEGRAND......

LeGrand is still as handsome and kind as he was when we dated.
I couldn't imagine then how we would be ...after 37 years .... but here
are. We're not so bad after all the aging. He has faired better in that
area than I have.

This is more how my life goes............when my granddaughter asks
"Is this how they washed dishes when you were young? In the olden
days" I never would have chosen to be an old woman , but LeGrand
has progressed into an even better looking man. White hair and all.

Inspiration

I was able to attend " A Time Out for Women" today. I had never been to one before, so this was a new experience. I have to say It was fun, inspiring and funny.
Fun because I got to go with Tricia and enjoy her company all day. (Marie couldn't go as she has not felt well all week)

Inspiring because the speakers spoke from the heart and with the spirit to touch mine. Having the fact that "perfection in this life" is not possible , reinforced something I already knew but need to be reminded of occasionally. It was also brought forward that being a Mother is most important and all of our other accomplishments are secondary.
I had that thought when I was contemplating attending my 40th class reunion this past summer. I realized that my major accomplishment was not owning my own company, teaching music at University of Colorado, being a newspaper woman and traveling all over the world(although the traveling would be fun). I was not sure that my former high school friends(who like me came straight out of the 60's) would find the fact that I had 5 children(What 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) , almost 9 grandchildren, and I find joy in all of that . I find joy that they are all good contributing members of society and love the Lord.

It was funny because I learned that some words are not swearing when you are on the farm and that some children don't act any smarter than cows sometimes, may justify some extra vocabulary words from Parents. I learned that laughing at one's self is a good thing to do(especially when you get to the car to go to the temple and realize you have forgotten your skirt_). I laughed at the stories and the fact that as unsual. Tricia and I had to both go to the bathroom( which only my girls will identify with)

I wish I had been able to attend with all 3 of my girls and both of my daughters in law. What a fun time we would have together. I miss those times with all the family.

I am off to get nylons so I can be dressed properly for church tomorrow.

met each other, fell in love
and got married

It has been a very enjoyable relationship with a few ups & downs. She found that he is almost perfect (not perfect like she orginally thought) and he found her not to be quite as perfect as he had thought. However with some maturing and learning together they developed a very supportive giving and loving marriage.

Together, they had 5 of the possibly most perfect
children ever created. The opportunity to be parents has filled their lives with more happiness than either one ever thought possible. Then they have been blessed with 8 *(almost 9) beautiful, smart, born to be leaders,
Grand Children.

Finally their lives were complete.

"Oh, Happy Day!!!"

New Week and back in the routine

I have been home a week, had to get back in the groove right away. The enrichment committee
had a meeting at my house on Tuesday. We have a quarterly meeting Sep 11. This is one calling that is a struggle for me. One feels the need to be creative everytime(which doesn't always happen for me) My age has kicked in here, I find myself thinking many of the topics they want addressed are "been there , done that" I like learning new things and getting new ideas, However I am learning that the things I think have been over done are new to the younger ladies. Soooooooo , I have reached the point of being the wise one. At our meetings I am the one with the ideas due to my vast experience. It is hard now not to take on too much , because when I present an idea, I get to be in charge of it. Oh well, I did promise to serve and give everything to the Church so why not wear myself out.
